The end of March is upon us, but in some ways it seems like the middle of winter here in Tyson! We still have a great deal of snow & patches of ice, plus the temps are rather chilly these mornings. Snowshoeing was fabulous on Patch Brook Road on Sunday afternoon. However, the warmth of the sun, daylight extending into the early evening, & the boisterous chirping of birds remind me that spring is coming…..
Our First Responders were called out twice this weekend for snowmobile accidents. One was late Friday night on the Shrewsbury side of town. The second was on Saturday on the trail across from Colby Pond that heads toward the Notch. Everyone mobilized for this second one, fearing severe injury, but ultimately the person was able to drive himself out & go to the hospital on his own.
I neglected to mention how nice it was to have author, Jon Clinch, join us at the Reach Out Luncheon on St Patrick’s Day. He provided some insights into his book, Finn, about Huckleberry Finn’s father, which were quite interesting. He also read excerpts from Kings of the Earth, one being Audie Proctor & the other Preston Hatch, both characters in this book. We are also looking forward to having his wife, author Wendy Clinch, speak to us in the future!
Just want to give folks a heads-up about the Special Town Meeting scheduled for Thursday 4/28 at 7:00 PM, which will be the time to re-vote the Town Budget. There were relatively few people at the regular Town Meeting, so hopefully more will turn out for this one! Also, the Selectmen’s hearing on the Town Plan will be Monday, 4/18 at 7:00 PM.
Kathy Lynds seems to be enjoying her latest house guest, Einstein, daughter Beth’s 5 year old Eskipoo dog, who is visiting the Lynds household for the next month or so. Also, congratulations to John & Kathy Donald on the birth of their 3rd grandchild, Ian Conrad Donald, in East Aurora, NY on 1/22/11. Speaking of babies, I just couldn’t resist including this picture of new moms – Lauren (Maynes) Davis, Jess (Singleton) Hathorn, & Melissa (Marrone) Perrino out for a walk with their little bundles of joy last week – Graham, Eric, & Owen!
