Margo Marrone’s Plymouth Report

Republished with permission from The Vermont Standard

Finally a nice day on Sunday! What is with this crazy weather? We only had 2 inches of snow on Saturday, but I understand other parts of town had more. Couldn’t believe it was still on the ground Sunday on the way to church!

Tom had taken down the protective wooden box that he puts around our mailbox during the winter – near fatal mistake! Fortunately he was able to bend it back into serviceable shape after the snow plow came through. Our neighbors, Linda Seader & Larry Miller now have an attractive new post that will probably sport a new mailbox shortly….

On Thursday, 4/28 at 7:00 PM, voters will be called to re-vote the Town Budget. Letters went out last week with a budget overview, in an attempt to explain why is has gone up from the previous one, rather than down. There were not many people at the Town Meeting, so it would be nice to have input from more townsfolk this time.

Green-Up Day will be 5/7 – see the Area Briefs for details! Don’t forget the Open House at Bethany Birches Camp on Sat, 5/14 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. It will provide an opportunity to see the camp & learn about the fun activities that take place there. Plan to enjoy s’mores and do a craft!

Last week I noted the passing of Robert Buswell on 4/16. On Mon 4/18, Jane Buswell passed on as well. Both had become increasingly frail & were sharing a room at Helen Porter Nursing Facility in Middlebury. They are together once again. The memorial service will be Sat, 5/14 at 1:00 PM at Tyson Church. Condolences to Linda Seader as well, on the recent loss of her mom.

Ladies Aid Bake Sale APR 22, 2011Tyson Ladies Aid had a very successful bake sale at Shaws on Good Friday. Thanks to everyone who baked in abundance & to all those who purchased the many goodies. Janine Norman’s dog, Kelly, was on hand as usual, complete with bunny ears & a cotton tail! This organization meets at Tyson Church on the 1st Thurs of each month at 11:30 AM. They are not part of the church, although many of us belong to both groups. They sponsor the Tyson Library & provide yearly scholarships at WUHS & Black River High School. In addition they contribute to numerous community needs, including the monthly Reach Out Luncheons on the 3rd Thurs of each month. We will be doing the berries at the Strawberry Festival (6/22) again this year – think about joining us!
