Tom & I attended the People of the Past program performed on the town hall stage in Ludlow on Saturday evening. Noteworthy people from the towns of Ludlow, Plymouth, & Mt Holly were depicted by a group of 8th graders in conjunction with the Black River Academy Museum. The students researched various people, then acted them out. Cedar Allen portrayed noted chairmaker, Leighton G. Fullam. Many Plymouth folks were presented: Calvin Coolidge & his sister, Abby, & Milton Moore to name a few. Each presentation helped to remind us of our rich local heritage.

This has been a week at Tyson Church of remembering wonderful folks who have recently passed on. The church was full on 5/9 as we celebrated the life of Evelyn Warren. On Saturday, 5/14, the church was overflowing with those honoring Jane & Robert Buswell. Grandson Brent & his wife Crista paid tribute through their music. Brent played the organ for the entire service & did a wonderful medley of favorite hymns on his accordion. He also accompanied Crista, whose beautiful voice lifted Just As I Am to new heights.

Condolences to Beth Lombard on the recent passing of her mother & Liza Ward on the passing of her sister, Rose Baker. Belated Happy Birthday wishes to Betty Ann Hayward (5/15) & Larry Lynds (5/16) & best wishes to Joyce MacDougall (5/19) & John Hale (5/22), who will be turning 18 – congratulations to one & all!

Don’t forget the Reach Out Community Luncheon on Thursday, 5/19 at Tyson Church with artist Don Hofer. This is a joint project of Tyson Ladies Aid & the Tyson Church to which everyone is invited. Our speaker is usually on hand at 11:00 & the meal is served at 11:30. Call Kathy Lynds to let us know you plan to attend – 672-3709.

The Historical Society meeting on 5/15 furthered plans for the July 4th gala 250th Plymouth celebration, with the next meeting being scheduled for Sunday 6/5 at 3:30 at the Historical Society building. Also, the building will be open for visitors each Wed in June from 11:00 – 1:00.
