Well, despite the sometimes torrential downpours, the spirits of the workers & those who attended the Strawberry Festival on 6/22 were high & the atmosphere one of celebration. Although the count was 300 fewer people than last year, the music (Art Branton) & the talent show, along with the happy voices of all ages made the evening a wonderful time of socializing & catching up on local happenings. The three groups, Plymouth Emergency Services (BBQ), Tyson Ladies Aid (Strawberries), & Tyson Church (raffle) all worked together, intermingling & helping with whatever needed to be done. The Bouncy House took on a bit of water as rain-soaked youngsters took turns enjoying the fun, but all were kept safe by various volunteer supervisors. The craft table provided creative activities & face-painting was a huge hit as usual! I am not mentioning names because many people helped with all these events, but I do want to give a special thanks to the teens & staff from Windsor Youth Services. They cheerfully helped wherever needed & should be acknowledged as the wonderful asset to the community that they are.
Proceeds from the evening will be going to a number of worthy causes including youth programs, scholarships, community outreach efforts, emergency response services & more. Thank you to all the businesses & individuals who provided raffle items, time & energy, food prep, & many other services. For those of you who attended, thanks for braving the weather & being part of this worthwhile & enjoyable community event!
