Well, we are into June & extremes in weather! Plymouth received heavy rain at times on Sunday, but apparently nothing compared to the devastation that reportedly took place further north. A tree was dangling on the wires near Weaver Rd & those of us on Ludlow Electric were out of power for an hour – something that doesn’t happen very often. Guess we can’t complain when those in other parts of the country are truly suffering from huge weather events.
Let’s try to focus on good weather for the annual Plymouth Strawberry Festival which will be held on Wed, 6/26, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Although there is shelter in the pavilion at Camp Plymouth State Park on Echo Lake, there is nothing like sitting out at the picnic tables listening to the music of Marcia Bender & Gwen Groff, with a few young people adding to the mix. It is also a great time to chat with folks you might not have occasion to see very often.
Put together by the Plymouth Emergency Services, the Tyson Ladies Aid & the Tyson Church, this event has something for everyone: great burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, salads & beans brought to you by the Plymouth Fire & First Response departments. Tyson Ladies Aid will provide the Strawberry Shortcake with homemade biscuits, whipped cream, ice cream & of course fresh strawberries! Tyson Church will run the raffle, funds from which are utilized for youth programs & other community outreach. There are many terrific prizes for the raffle & tickets can be bought ahead of time from members of Tyson church & other community folks who agreed to sell them. You don’t need to be on hand to win!
The Plymouth Historical Society will meet on Sunday, 6/9 at 4:00 PM at the School Building with discussion of the “Grand Opening” being on the agenda, as well as upcoming programs. Also, don’t forget the meeting & vote on funding for the Sheriff that will be held Tues, 6/25 at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall. Come learn what the Sheriff does & have input into what services you would like to see included.
The restaurant at the Echo Lake Inn will re-open for the season on Thurs, 6/14. Make note that they will have a $28 special for Father’s Day, which is 6/16!
