Margo Marrone’s Plymouth Report

12/8/13

I understand that the Christmas craft project that took place at the Plymouth Community Center last Saturday in the former elementary school building was quite a success! Five young people & four adults joined Carolyn Scott & Laurie Marechaux to make creative Christmas ornaments from assorted odds & ends. It is possible crafts could become a monthly activity at the Center!

Tyson Ladies Aid Christmas party of 12/5/13

Tyson Ladies Aid had their annual Christmas party downstairs at Tyson Church on Thursday, 12/5. A number of members were unable to attend, but those that were there had a wonderful time. As has been the case for several years now, boxes of soft tissues were collected for the residents of the Gill Home & gifts for the teens at the two Windsor County Youth Services homes. On 12/18, 10 Christmas baskets will be assembled for special folks in our area as a Christmas remembrance.

Please note the there will a free blood sugar & blood pressure screening clinic at the Community Center (school) on Tuesday, 12/17 from 3-5:30 PM. It is sponsored by Plymouth First Response (Sue Poirier) & Health Officer, Russ Tonkin, & all information will be kept confidential.

It was a pleasure to officiate at the wedding of Jamie Rose Richard & Kevin Ellis Leary at the church on Saturday evening. Then they enjoyed a reception at the Echo Lake Inn immediately following the ceremony.

Don’t forget the happenings at the Notch on Sunday, 12/15 from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Music, sleigh rides, crafts, & the lighting of the Memory Tree at 3:00 PM. I know that many of us from Tyson Ladies Aid have already been baking food that will be available at the Wilder House. A variety of hearty soups, chili, & all sorts of goodies will be on hand, so be sure to stop over.

Plans are falling into place for the festivities at Tyson Church on Sunday 12/22. In addition to our regular morning Worship Service at 10:30 AM, we will have our Annual Community Candlelight Service at 7:00 PM. This year we will have an additional activity – cookie decorating for area young people starting at 5:00 PM, under the direction of Kathy Lynds, who has done a similar program at the Historic Site over the years. Pizza will be served, so if possible let Kathy know at kathylynds@gmail.com if you plan to attend.

As usual, we will also serve goodies downstairs after the Candlelight Service, so folks will have a chance to wish one another a Merry Christmas. Each year we use the collection from this service to provide for needs within the community. This year we will be giving the funds to the family of Nolan Alberty, not quite 3 years of age, who is battling cancer for the 2nd time. He is making progress, but prayers are always welcome. As a matter of fact, there are several of us in the area who have cancer over this past year or dealt with surgeries & illnesses. This will be a time of thanksgiving & sharing hugs!
