We often think about June being the wedding month, but here in Plymouth it is birthday month! Sue Poirier (6/4), Tom Marrone (6/6), Sally Markwell (6/9), Georgiana Whalen (6/26). Now the big day is 6/14 – Bette Anne Sailer, Matt Harootunian, Doris Earle, Theresa Steward, & me. Angela Miccio has her birthday somewhere in the teens, but I never remember the exact date. I don’t know how the others are celebrating, but friends gathered for a pizza party to help Tom commemorate the occasion!
At Tyson Church this Sunday we celebrated the birthday of the church because it was Pentecost. We even had birthday cake! The Celebration of Life for Jane Zygmont was there on Saturday, so all the lovely flowers were still in place.
Approximately 20 people attended the plaque dedication at Tyson Library on Sunday. With donations received in memory of Betty Jarvi, Mary Gross, Janet Stewart, & Carlton Harlow, many wonderful improvements have been made, so it was nice to recognize these gifts. Terry Bascom offered a blessing & refreshments were served.
The library hours for the summer are Tues – Sat from 10:00 to noon. It is also open the 1st & 3rd Monday evenings of the month from 6:00 to 7:00 & there is talk about having an informal social time & book discussion at that time. This would be different from the regular Book Group meeting at the Community Center, where we all read the same book & discuss our ideas. We will be meeting this Thurs, 6/12 at 6:30 to talk about “Holes”
It would be so nice to have the weather we have had this weekend for the Strawberry Festival on Wed, 6/18. Of course, it is held rain or shine, so don’t let showers keep you away! The list of raffle prizes is growing, with many local businesses still donating. A couple of those from town are: from the Echo Lake Inn – 2 nights in a room with a king size bed & a Jacuzzi, including breakfast & dinner at the Inn at Water’s Edge, as well as at Sam‘s & gift baskets from M L Plumbing. A few others are a massage, more dinner gift certificates, & the Spring House at Okemo. Over 40 prizes so far & we will post a big “thank-you” sign with all of the contributors!
Emergency Services will handle the burgers, salads, etc & Tyson Ladies Aid does a fantastic job with the strawberries. Tyson Church is doing the raffle. Proceeds go to a number of community projects. Well-known fiddler Adam Boyce will provide music this year. Come join the fun!
Court officials say several Windham County residents reported receiving email messages with the subject line, “Notice of Appearance.” The messages also state that an attached notice must be opened for more information and is signed, “Truly yours, Susan Mason, clerk to the court.” these emails are not legitimate & the attachments are likely malware that will attempt to gather personal information stored on the user’s computer, so don’t open them.
