Early Spring Activities and Events — Margo’s Plymouth Report

4/21/16

We are definitely coming into the “off season”.  The Echo Lake Inn is closed for meals and now the Inn at Water’s Edge will be taking a break as well.  Ten of us enjoyed a lovely meal there last Friday evening.

The reading group will be meeting on 3/31 at 6:30 PM at the Community Center to discuss The Light Between Oceans.  Join us even if you haven’t had a chance to read it!  I understand that the PeeWee ice hockey team, of which Calef Hepler is a member, has done very well.  The boys were second in a recent tournament and were invited to the sectionals in ME.  Way to go!

The Coolidge Open House on 4/9 from noon to 4:00 PM, will feature a talk by Carolyn Frisa from Works on Paper on “Preserving Family Archives“.  Diane Kemble will be offering a workshop on accordion books from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  There is a $40 fee for this one and pre-registration is needed.  Call 802-672-3389 for more information.

Oh, what fun we had with the youngsters in church on Palm Sunday!  The cacophony of sounds that resulted from the many “instruments” being played during the first hymn caused those of us who can’t really sing, to sing out loudly and boldly.  Notice I didn’t say beautifully – in any case, it was fun!  The exuberant waving of palms infected all of us, too.  Maundy Thursday’s service will be a bit more solemn, but hopefully no less meaningful.  Join us at 6:00 PM for a light meal and at 7:00 PM for time in the sanctuary.

Did you know that effective 6/25 Plymouth FAST TRASH and recycling on Town Office Road will be coming to an end?  It seemed like it was a long way off when first announced, but now it is nearly upon us!  You can receive a free recycling bin and learn more about pickups by calling ABLE Waste at 672-3569.  Don’t forget that VT residents can take unwanted electronics to the Ludlow Transfer Station, where I am told they will accept computers, monitors, printers & TVs for free.  There may be a fee for other e-waste items, however.  If you have been waiting for the next Household Hazardous Waste Collection, get your items ready for the one in Plymouth from 9:00 – 11:00 on Saturday, 5/21.

Remember as you start your spring cleaning to set items aside for the big sale at the Community Center over the Memorial Day weekend.  More details to come…..
